Registration

How do I register?

Click on REGISTER for online and paper registration options. Online registration is available until Wed., Oct. 12 at noon. Register by Saturday, October 1 to be guaranteed a t-shirt.

​

What is the Kids' Dash and how do I register for it? 

New for 2016, the Kids' Dash is a shorter race for younger children (10 and under) who would like to participate but aren't ready to do a whole 5K. Click on REGISTER to sign up your child.

Can I register on race day?

Yes. Race day registration will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.  

Cash, checks (payable to AAPS) and credit cards accepted.

 

Can I cancel or transfer my registration?

Entries are non-refundable, and transfer of registration to another participant is not permitted.

What’s included in the price of my 5K Run/Walk registration?

In addition to guaranteeing entry to the event, the registration fee includes a race bib with timing chip, a T-shirt, a water station on the course, and post-race food and beverages.

When and where is packet pickup?

Packet pickup will be on Friday, October 14 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Location: the Rec & Ed office, 1515 S. Seventh Street, 48103. We’re on the southwest side of Pioneer High School. Enter from Seventh Street and park in our lot.  Participants may pick up packets on behalf of other entrants with a copy of the registration confirmation. Packets can also be picked up on race day between 7:30 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. at Gallup Park.

How can I check to make sure that I’m registered?

You should have received an email receipt from registration@aaps.k12.mi.us with the subject line, “Receipt Confirmation.”  Please check your email Spam folder if it doesn’t appear within 30 minutes of your payment. Email registration@aaps.k12.mi.us if you do not receive this receipt.

I can’t attend. May I make a donation to the Rec & Ed Youth Scholarship Fund?

Yes! We gratefully accept all donations. Make checks out to “AAPS” with "RR4K" in the memo line. Mail to 1515 S. Seventh Street, Ann Arbor, MI 48103, attention Christine Drago.

Race Day

 

What are the start times for each event?

5K Run/Walk - 9:00 a.m.

Kids’ Dash (10 and under) - 10:15 a.m.

Where can I park?

Parking is available in the southeastern parking lots of Gallup Park. Overflow parking at Huron High School across Fuller Rd.

What is the 5K Run/Walk course like?

The course is mostly flat and paved, with a few mulched areas through the woods.

​

Are strollers allowed?

Yes. Please stay towards the back of the crowd at the start line. On the course, please stay to the right.

Are dogs allowed?

Yes, but all dogs must be kept on a short (6 foot or shorter) leash for the entire duration of the event. Owners should take special care with their dogs in crowded areas to ensure safety of all participants.

Will there be a water station?

Yes, there will be one water stop on the course at approximately the 1.5 mile mark. Water and other beverages will also be available near the finish line.

Are there bathrooms?

Yes, there are park restrooms and portajohns on the course.

​

What if there’s inclement weather?

The event will take place rain or shine. If weather is too dangerous and unsafe for participants, the race will be cancelled by 9:30 a.m. The event will NOT be rescheduled and registrations are non-refundable. Please ‘Like’ our FACEBOOK page for a cancellation announcement and other important messages.

How do I find out my time?

Results will be posted on the Rick’s Run for Kids HOMEPAGE within 48 hours after the race.

​

Is First Aid available if needed?

Yes.  A trained staff member is located with first aid supplies at the Finish Line.
